Preservation Assessment and Environmental Monitoring of Archival Collections

FAIN: PA-51687-06

Portland Museum (Louisville, KY 40212-1036)
Nathalie Taft Andrews (Project Director: May 2005 to October 2007)

A preservation assessment and the purchase of environmental monitoring equipment, storage enclosures, and disaster recovery supplies for artifacts, art, oral histories, and print collections that document the history of a riverside inner-city neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, from the 1820s to the present.

Louisville, KY's Portland Museum is seeking support to engage Gregory Farmer to conduct an updated preservation assessment, review collections work accomplished by volunteers, and provide guidance to Board and staff. The updated preservation assesment will set priorities and draft a long-range plan for the care of the Museum's collections. In addition, the Musem is seeking support for supplies and small equipment. The Museum's collections represent the history of an inner-city neigborhood that was once an independent rivertown at the Falls of the Ohio River. It is a community of need.
