FAIN: PA-51700-06

Ybor City Museum Society (Tampa, FL 33605-3818)
Emanuel Anthony Leto (Project Director: May 2005 to August 2006)

A general preservation assessment of corporate records, photographs, books, and ephemera related to the cigar-making industry in Tampa, Florida.

This Assistance Grant will help the Society establish a formal system for the preservation of the items in our care, bringing us closer to fulfilling several long-range goals. In 2004, a collections policy was adopted by the board of directors. In January '05, we purchased the Past Perfect software and began cataloging our collections. Hiring a preservation specialist to assess the collection and devise a plan for its storage and care is the next step. The Museum Society’s collections are a priority for 2005. The assistance grant will keep us moving forward, creating greater access to the collection for researchers and the public.
