This full-day workshop presented by LYRASIS will cover disaster preparedness and response for cultural heritage collections. Participants will learn about the basic elements of a disaster plan and how to create or update a plan for their organization, including approaches to cooperative disaster preparedness. Risk assessment will be discussed and covered in an exercise so participants can assess and mitigate risks at their own institutions. The workshop will include a hands-on portion where participants can work to stabilize wet collections materials and learn about appropriate drying methods to effectively salvage materials.
