Flood Damage Repairs to Historic Buildings in Sam Houston Park, Houston, Texas

FAIN: PB-260588-18

Heritage Society (Houston, TX 77002-2504)
Emily Ardoin (Project Director: October 2017 to April 2018)

De-humidification, drying, mold prevention, and cleaning of floors and baseboards covered in silt in two historic homes.  A team of preservation specialists would conserve damaged fine art, textiles, furniture, and decorative objects.  Funds are also requested for supplies and equipment for this conservation work and to stabilize the collections environment within both houses.

This grant would help mitigate damage from Hurricane Harvey's flood waters to Pillot House and San Felipe House, two historic homes maintained by The Heritage Society in Sam Houston Park, located in downtown Houston.  The grant would defray the expenses of drying, dehumidification, mold prevention, and the cleaning of floors and baseboards that were covered in silt by the flood.
