The Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council, Inc. (SPAR) seeks to address the preservation needs of the Springfield Historic District’s archival collection, which was damaged in Hurricane Irma. SPAR maintains the district’s archives, including about 2,000 paper files, surveys of the historic district, original deeds, contracts, photographs, and ephemera related to homes and businesses, dating from 1885 to the present. Hurricane Irma destroyed the roof of SPAR’s office building, flooding the interior and exposing the collections to extreme moisture.
