The purchase, shipping, and installation fees for a mobile generator, which would restore power to the museum’s climate control and security systems and stabilize environmental conditions.

To acquire and install a power generator to restore power, security systems, and climate controls lost during hurricanes Irma and Maria.  As a whole, the museum collections have been affected by the loss of more than two months of power and climate control.  By some estimates return of power and/or its stabilization might take several months.  Climate controls need to be restored as quickly as possible to minimize damage.  The collections chiefly comprise rare books (including hundreds of incunabula and other early printed materials) and works of art on paper.  This is the only collection of its kind in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean; it will remain in storage enclosures until power is restored and thus will not be accessible.
