The replacement of acid-free boxes and related packing supplies, along with documenting inspection and cleanup and restoration of two portraits from the collection of Dr. Arturo Morales Carrión, damaged as a result of Hurricane Maria in 2017.

The San Germán Campus of IAUPR seeks assistance from the NEH Chairman's Emergency Grant to preserve Dr. Arturo Morales Carrión Documentation Center and Museum, located at the Center of Access to Information (CAI), the Campus Library.  Dr. Morales Carrión was a distinguished humanist, historian, educator, writer, and diplomat recognized in Puerto Rico, United States and Latin America, during the 20th century.  The CAI building sustained great damage, as acoustics, furniture, equipment, valuable paintings and 398 boxes containing Dr. Morales Carrión collection.  The project aims at preserving his collection by replacing the existing, which suffered growth of fungus, with new acid-free boxes and supplies.  Oil paintings of Morales Carrión and of Mrs. Eunice Harris, wife of our founder, will be restored.  These will render greater access and dissemination of our humanist rich legacy.
