Conservation and preservation for books,
documents, art works, and reference materials, including dictionaries, encyclopedias, manuals, pamphlets,
and other print resources, damaged during Hurricane Maria in 2017.
Hurricane Maria, caused billions of dollars in damages in Puerto Rico and left 3.4 million island residents without power, potable water, and telecommunications. With the spirit of collaboration and collective action to recover the collection damages at the University library at Humacao, additional funding for recovery and restoring the collection is needed. The library building is mold-infested and the roof is leaking, so there's a lot of work to clean and restore the reference, and research collection. Also, will contribute to maintain the special collection Santiago Iglesias Pantin available for usage and research. In the case of the library, this essential measure is intended to ensure the rescue, protection and conservation of the collections as well as the health and safety of employees, students and visitors.
