An assessment of damages sustained by the archives due to Hurricane Harvey and mitigation efforts, including drying and separating of materials.

The South Texas Institute for the Arts dba Art Museum of South Texas houses archival materials The purchase of dehumidifiers, fans, HVAC motors and professional services for emergency power and HVAC operation restoration in the Philip Johnson designed building which received water damage from Hurricane Harvey and the entire Museum was without power for nine days.  Due to the hurricane, the emergency generator and HVAC unit failed, but were repaired four days post-storm. In addition, the Johnson Building experienced power surges during and after the storm which burned out six of the nine motors in the HVAC units which supply the various galleries, work areas, and storage spaces in that building.  AMST purchased dehumidifiers and fans to help moderate conditions for these items and engaged professionals to get the generator and HVAC units operational. The fire suppression and alarm systems tied to the HVAC unit failed causing the need for new equipment to be purchased and installed.
