FAIN: PE-50006-07

Brown University (Providence, RI 02912-9100)
Julia Hammond Flanders (Project Director: July 2006 to October 2009)

Twelve workshops for a total of 300-400 humanities faculty and graduate students that will explore digital text encoding as an essential method in humanities scholarship.

The Brown University Women Writers Project requests funding for a program of intensive workshops and seminars on scholarly humanities text encoding, aimed at humanities faculty and graduate students. Events in this series would be offered at humanities centers and scholarly conferences in the USA and Canada over a two-year period. As part of the program, participants would also receive consultation and assistance in developing new text encoding projects and in securing funding. The program as a whole would support the development of an academic community that is better informed and more deeply and effectively engaged with scholarly uses of technology.
