The implementation of workshops on digital preservation designed specifically for leaders of collaborative digital library programs.

Libraries and cultural heritage organizations across the US have been developing digital collections for nearly a decade. These individual institutions have digitized hundreds of thousands of photos, manuscripts, documents, and artifacts that have been made available to humanities scholars, educators, students and the public over the internet. Access to these digital objects by future generations is at risk because many of these groups struggle with creating a long term accessibility strategy. This application proposes a workshop to educate the digital collaborative leaders in planning for the long term digital preservation of the digital resources they have created. The end result will be completed plans that will enable these organizations to advocate for the implementations of long term preservation systems. Additionally these plans will be available to other organizations and will encourage and assist other collaboratives develop their long term digitization preservation plans.
