Disaster preparedness workshops and preservation advice for staff at cultural heritage institutions in the West and the Pacific.  A total of 37 workshops would be held for 555 staff participants, including 22 hybrid workshops combining online and in-person training on writing disaster plans; 5 in-person workshops on testing disaster response plans; and 10 in-person workshops on creating and funding preservation efforts.  The project would also support the WESTPAS preservation information service, which addresses 10-15 queries per week via website, emergency phone, and preservation reference service.

On behalf of WESTPAS, the Peninsula Library System, San Mateo, California, proposes a two-year preservation education and training project to deliver to heritage institutions in the West and the Pacific the following services: - 22 hybrid workshops (a combination of on-line instruction and in-person training) on writing plans for disaster response and collection salvage - 5 one-day in-person workshops on testing disaster response plans to identify institutional vulnerabilities and promote networking to increase effectiveness of disaster response - 10 one-day in-person workshops on creating and funding preservation projects to enhance care of collections - WESTPAS preservation information service, including website, 24/7 emergency phone service, and email/telephone preservation reference service.
