The purchase of archival supplies, storage shelving, ultraviolet shields for fluorescent lights, and environmental monitoring equipment to preserve archives on the history of women's education and Lasell College from 1851 to the present.

We will use the funds from the Preservation Assistance Grant to purchase archival supplies, environmental monitoring and protection equipment, and archival storage shelving recommended in the report written by Preservation Consultant Beth Patkus. Our archival holdings date back to the late 1800s, and we want our material properly housed and indexed to be useful to the current and future generation of scholars. The physical location of the archives needs environmental monitoring to identify any remediation necessary for the preservation of the collection. The windows need to be covered with neutral gray heat rejection/UV rejection film. The fluorescent lights need UV screening bulb covers. We need to install powder coated metal shelving that replaces wood shelving to hold large archival storage boxes and rehouse materials including such items as: pamphlets, notebooks, blueprints and other documents in archival document cases.
