Rocky Mountain College (Billings, MT 59102-1739)
William L. Kehler (Project Director: May 2006 to July 2008)

The purchase of storage units and supplies for manuscripts, records, photographs, and other materials that document the settlement of and education in central and eastern Montana during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The goals of the Heritage Archives of Rocky Mountain College (RMC) in this implementation project are to preserve its collections consistent with accepted archival practices and to increase the accessibility of its holdings to the community. In pursuance of these goals, RMC plans to purchase eleven shelving units, a storage cabinet, and supplies for proper handling and storage of a wide variety of materials. A grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in the amount of $4,976 will ensure the completion of these activities. The new shelving, storage cabinet, and supplies will augment our already full to capacity units and will allow for materials currently kept in cardboard boxes and plastic containers to be properly assessed, handled, and stored, thus increasing their life and their accessibility to the community. Patrons include members of the campus community and historians, theologians, archivists, writers, artists, educators, and hobbyists.
