Carol A. Putnam (Project Director: May 2006 to December 2008)

A preservation assessment of storage conditions and a conservation assessment for a collection of 1,300 artworks by Vermont contemporary folk artist, Gayleen Aiken.

Grant funds from the NEH's Preservation Assistance program would support Grass Roots Art and Community Effort (GRACE), a non-profit community arts organization to contract with M.J. Davis, private conservation specialist for the following: 1) a conservation assessment of a specific collection consisting of approximately 1,300 art works by Vermont contemporary folk artist, Gayleen Aiken to be added to the permanent and archival GRACE collections; 2) review GRACE's permanent and archival collection storage areas and make recommendations for improved storage and rehousing materials for this collection. Upon the completion of this project, a public exhibition of art works from the new acquisition by Gayleen Aiken will be scheduled at GRACE's Firehouse Gallery.
