Powell Museum Archive Storage Improvement Project

FAIN: PG-50151-07

John Wesley Powell Museum (Page, AZ 86040)
Kimberly Keisling (Project Director: May 2006 to April 2008)

The purchase of storage furniture and supplies to properly house nine of the museum's archival collections, which document the history of the city of Page, nearby Lake Powell, Monument Valley, and the Four-Corners region. Materials to be rehoused include photographs, maps, oral histories, newspapers, and documents dealing with the exploration, settlement, and development of this region.

With the proposed Preservation Assistance Grant, the Powell Museum will purchase collection preservation supplies and furniture recommended by consultants, to properly care for specific archival humanities collections. The purpose of the project is to preserve the collections of the Powell Museum for future generations, to develop necessary documents to properly care for and maintain museum collections, and to make collections easily accessible for museum staff, volunteers, and the public.
