The purchase of compact shelving for the storage of archives in music education, including manuscripts, sheet music, photographs, sound recordings, scrapbooks, correspondence, and ephemera.

VanderCook College of Music requests a Preservation Assistance Grant of $5,000 to improve the storage facilities of its institutional archives collection. The archives will purchase compact shelving for its research and storage room, increasing its linear storage space by 96 percent, allowing adequate storage of and access to its most valuable and most requested materials. The present proposal is based on the results of a facilities survey performed in 2004. Our institutional archives contains the papers and music manuscripts of important music educators, preserving a century-long legacy of philosophies, ideas, and instructions for music educators, which are still relevant and sought-after today.
