Institutional Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan for the San Diego Archaeological Center

FAIN: PG-50236-08

San Diego Archaeological Center (San Diego, CA 92101)
Cindy T. Stankowski (Project Director: May 2007 to May 2010)

Hiring a consultant to create a disaster preparedness plan and to conduct staff training on the care and safety of archaeological artifacts that document the early culture of the San Diego region to the 20th century. The artifact collection includes prehistoric projectile points, other stone tools, and ceramic vessels.

The San Diego Archaeological Center seeks funding for the development of an institutional disaster preparedness and response plan, training for staff, and the purchase of disaster preparedness supplies to protect and recover collections. The Center has a critical need for an expertly designed plan in view of major renovations already in place and continuing through 2007. The project is designed to provide the proper level of collections protection and care, to guarantee the health and safety of staff and visitors, and enhance facility viability.
