FAIN: PG-50251-08

Pennsylvania Trolley Museum (Washington, PA 15301-6133)
Scottt R. Becker (Project Director: May 2007 to February 2010)

The purchase of preservation supplies to rehouse 20,000 images created from 1890 to the present that document the history of electric railways in Pennsylvania.

To purchase preservation supplies for the proper storage of photo negatives, prints and slides for the Museum's archives of electric railway material. We have been actively collecting and disseminating information about Pennsylvania's trolley era for over fifty years. Its archives have grown to over 5,000 square feet and is one of the five largest of its kind in the United States focusing on the electric railway industry and trolley era. There is a great need to better store the photo negatives, prints and 35mm slides that it has collected over the years. The supplies requested will allow these priceless images to be stored in a way that will ensure their longevity. We propose to purchase with the grant funds the following: 3,000 4 3/8" wide by 5 3/8" high negative & print envelopes, 100 4 3/8" x 6 3/8" high negative & print envelopes, 100 8 1/2" wide x 10 1/2" negative & print envelopes, 300 deep lid archival boxes for prints , 100 photo preservation box albums for slides.
