Engaging a conservator to conduct a general preservation assessment of a facility holding tools, ceramics, architectural artifacts, and other archaeological objects that reflect the Spanish Colonial Era in Texas.

The Presidio La Bahia Foundation (PLBF) is a non-profit organization established to assist with the expenses related to preserving and advancing the facility and collection of Presidio La Bahia, Goliad, Texas. The PLBF has identified the existing artifact collection and the current storage facilities as areas in immediate need of improvement. The collection consists primarily of Spanish Colonial and Texas Republic era artifacts recovered from the presidio during an 1960s excavation and restoration project. The collection, clearly one of the most important artifact assemblages of this time period in the state, has languished for more than forty years, lacking proper conservation and a proper curatorial space to house the collection.
