Purchase of storage furniture and preservation supplies to rehouse artifacts, textiles, books, manuscripts, and other materials that document the history of Rhode Island from the 1700s to the 20th century.

This project will purchase archival storage materials necessary to continue the implementation of the LCHS Collection Preservation Project. The project is based on the recommendations of two consultant efforts. In 2006 NEH awarded a Preservation Assistant Grant to LCHS for archival supplies that allowed us to begin the MCR project, our largest collections project to date. The society has now generated a new list of storage and supply needs that are necessary to complete the project in early 2008 and to ensure the safe storage of our 10,000 item collection. These items include file cabinets, a wall-mounted storage panel and additional archival supplies.
