Elkanah Shmotkin (Project Director: May 2007 to December 2009)

Hiring an audiovisual preservation specialist to conduct a comprehensive assessment of 1,600 sound and image recordings in the media archives that date from 1920 to the present. The collections document all facets of Jewish life, with an emphasis on the Lubavitch Chasidic tradition. The consultant's report would include recommendations for preservation, collection management, archival storage equipment and related supplies, and a plan to address the organization's current and future needs.

A proposed study of our archival assets, enabling us to restore and preserve our priceless video and motion-picture archives in order to provide access for all who seek.
