The purchase of preservation materials to house textiles, including hand-woven bed sheets, quilts, Indian blankets, army blankets, clothing, flags, and banners relating to the history and culture of New York's Mohawk Valley.

The Walter Elwood Museum is requesting funding for the purchase of storage materials to properly care for and preserve our humanities collections. Materials include textile boxes, Tyvek softwrap, trays, dividers, polyester batting, acid-free tissue, ethafoam, storage tubes, Melinex, zip lock bags, and latex paint. In keeping with the vision of our founder, Walter Elwood, the museum was designed to engage our audiences in learning about the world around them. Programs emphasize local history, other cultures, and the natural world. The focus of this request is the 6,000 objects that comprise the museum's material culture collections, both local and ethnographic.
