The purchase and installation of storage furniture and preservation supplies for housing 49 large three-dimensional ceramic, stone, and bronze objects in the permanent fine arts collection of the Krannert Art Museum.

Krannert Art Museum requests a Preservation Assistance Grant to support improvement of methods and materials for the storage of three-dimensional collections in the permanent collection. This project serves to seek more appropriate storage furniture to replace shelves made of untreated pine and plywood in the oversize artifact storage area. Purchase of standard museum quality powder-coated steel shelving will allow for reorganization of this space utilizing proper methods of storage including earth quake preventative measures following consultation with a conservation specialist. The permanent collection supports the museum's educational mission to acquire, preserve, and exhibit the best possible examples of the art of world cultures from ancient times to the present day, and the interpretation of those collections for the benefit of the general public. Objects from the collection rotate in an ongoing schedule throughout the year and are often incorporated in temporary exhibitions.
