The purchase of storage furniture and preservation supplies to rehouse 1,000 artifacts that document the history of eastern Montana and western North Dakota from 1890 to 1945.

This project will furnish a new collections management space in the lower level of the MonDak Heritage Center with metal shelves and archival quality boxes to provide a secure and climate-controlled area to manage and store the MDHC collections. Some of the items in the MDHC collections are currently stored in an area without climate control and appropriate security, and all collections management activities take place in our exhibit space, leaving many more items susceptible to damage and theft. The MDHC seeks to preserve artifacts which relate to the unique frontier heritage of eastern Montana and western North Dakota and share the culture and history of the region with a rural and isolated population. This new collections management area will significantly increase the ability of the museum to preserve, display and make available for research all of its humanities collections.
