FAIN: PG-50703-09

Old Swedes Church Foundation (Wilmington, DE 19801-4421)
Rebecca L. Wilson (Project Director: May 2008 to November 2010)

A preservation assessment of record books and manuscripts documenting the early history and founding of the New Sweden Colony in Delaware and the history of the congregation of Holy Trinity Old Swedes Church dating from 1697.

The Old Swedes Foundation seeks $5,925 from the National Endowment for the Humanities to conduct a collection specific survey of the early record books and manuscripts in the Foundation's Collection. The project will assess the preservation needs and the condition of the manuscripts and early record books and provide recommendations for preservation planning, digitazation of collection, standards of access, and long-term storage. This survey and the resulting reports and condition forms will provide the Foundation with the necessary information to develop short and long-term preservation plans. A book/paper conservator from the Conservation Center of Art and Historic Artifacts, Philadelphia, PA will conduct the survey.
