Hygrothermograph for the Brendlinger Library Archives

FAIN: PG-50828-10

Montgomery County Community College (Blue Bell, PA 19422-1412)
Lawrence Greene (Project Director: May 2009 to October 2011)

Funding supports the purchase of environmental monitoring equipment to better preserve the historical and administrative records of the college. The library's special collections also include the Montgomery County Choral Society Music archives and the archives of the Betzwood Motion Picture Studio, one of the largest film production facilities in the early years of filmmaking from 1912 to 1920.

Montgomery County Community College is eager to ensure that its archives are safe and environmentally secure. A grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities would be used to purchase a hygrothermograph that would monitor the environmental conditions of the College's Archives. The hygrothermograph will ensure that the collections are stored properly by providing constant surveillance of the environmental conditions and alerting the College archivist of any potential disturbances.
