Funding supports a preservation needs assessment of the Boynton Beach City Library Archives Collection of local history materials and the purchase of archival housing supplies as recommended by the consultant.

The Boynton Beach City Library Archives Collection details the development of a busy and vibrant seaside community in southeastern Florida. Boynton Beach Florida, the focus of our collection, reflects a unique piece of Florida history through the stories of its pioneers, fishermen, and farmers. The Archives print holdings range in size from postcards to aerial maps and architectural drawings and include photographs, brochures, newspapers, scrapbooks and programs from events such as the Miss Boynton Beach Beauty Pageants (a precursor to the Miss America Contest) from the 1920s to present day depict small town life traditions. Our goal is to acquire the services of a professional consultant who will help us provide the treasures in our Archive Collection with a long-term planning and implementation tool to use as we continue to maintain and develop our Boynton Beach holdings. We also hope to begin to re-house materials with proper archival supplies.
