The purchase of preservation supplies that would be available to cultural heritage institutions in the greater Pittsburgh area in the event of a disaster. The project would also develop policies and procedures for access and use of the cache, convene an educational meeting for consortium members, and conduct a mock disaster drill. Among the participating institutions are the Carnegie Mellon University's Architecture Archives, University of Pittsburgh's East Asian Library and Frick Fine Arts Library, and the Carnegie Museum.

The Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI), is seeking a grant to provide for the development of a regional disaster supply cache for cultural heritage collections in the greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area. PALCI is doing so in conjunction with the Alliance for Response Pittsburgh initiative, as well as with the involvement of the University of Pittsburgh University Library System, which will serve as the host site for these materials. These supplies would be used by a variety of cultural heritage institutions in the Pittsburgh region in response to disasters or emergencies impacting their collections. In addition, the purchasing and availability of these supplies would encourage a consortial and regional approach to disaster preparedness, supplemented by educational programs offered by PALCI and Alliance for Response Pittsburgh.
