The purchase of archival storage and rehousing supplies to preserve two photographic collections documenting the history of thoroughbred breeding and racing in the United States. Used extensively by historians and journalists for publications, these materials require special care to prevent further deterioration.

The Keeneland Library requests supplies to support two preservation housing and storage projects. The Library will re-house portions (1930's and 1940's) of the deteriorating Bert Morgan Photographic Negative Collection which documents all aspects of the Thoroughbred industry in the United States. The Library will also newly ingest a special collection of drawings, sketches, caricatures and cartoons by the Pierre "Peb" Bellocq who created caricatures for the Daily Racing Form and Morning Telegraphs newspapers for over 50 years. Supplies will cover the costs of paper, sleeves, folders, and boxes to properly preserve, house and store the collections. The re-housing and processing of the two projects will occur during the year 2011.
