The purchase of shelving and map cases, to facilitate the preservation of the county's archival records and oversized map holdings, and the attendance of staff at Western Archives Institute workshops focusing on disaster preparedness. The collection dates back to the establishment of the county, one of California's first, in 1850 and includes more than 4,300 printed volumes, 3,000 photographs, and numerous series of government records such as Board of Supervisors meeting minutes, civil and criminal case files, tax rolls, probates, and wills documenting the county's historical evolution from its founding to the late 20th century. Highlights include original oversized maps depicting the transition from Mexican to American governance of the region in the mid-1800s as well as personal papers of pioneer settlers during the concurrent California Gold Rush era.
The Yolo County Archives would like to implement preservation methods based on the 2010 Preservation Assessment.
