The digitization of 100,000 pages of historical newspapers, published between 1690 and 1963, as part of Ohio’s continuing participation in the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP).

Ohio History Connection (OHC) requests $317,428 to digitize 100,000 pages of Ohio’s microfilmed newspapers for the continuation of the National Digital Newspaper Program in Ohio. By the end of 2025, OHC will have digitized over 620,000 pages for the Library of Congress digital newspaper website, Chronicling America. During the proposed seventh round, OHC will build on this existing collection by focusing on papers that document Ohio’s rich history of democracy through a focus on early statehood, community building, and national movements and politicians. The stories these titles capture will expand on those already found on Chronicling America while shedding light on untold and lesser-known histories.
