To support conserving, cataloging, and rehousing 18th-century documents related to the founding of America.

This project will conserve and make accessible 1380 sheets of Louisiana French Colonial records (1731 to 1768) by removing old tissue covering repairs, and cellophane tape; putting in order, and binding. An index will be loaded onto the Notarial Archives Web site. An additional 26,962 sheets of Louisiana Spanish Colonial and Early American documents will be disbound, repaired, deacified, and encasulated before being rebound. An index will be loaded onthe Web site. Alll records are civil law notarial acts (formal provate sector contract documenting private life in Colonial New Orleans and Early America.
