Technological upgrades to the society's security system to preserve 200,000 artifacts reflecting history of Detroit.

The Museum Security Upgrade Project involves technological upgrades, physical maintenance, procedural reassessments, ongoing staff training and the hiring of dedicated security staff. We are requesting NEH support for Phase I which will address the Society?s most critical security needs with the installation of some crucial alarm components, the institution of new security protocols & procedures as well as ongoing staff training. The ensuing phases, which will be implemented over several years, will complete our system redesign and result in the Society having a new security system, both technologically and procedurally, which will continually provide effective protection into the next decade.
