Museum Storage Improvement Project - Phase II

FAIN: PZ-50168-08

Dallas Museum of Art (Dallas, TX 75201-2398)
Gabriela Truly (Project Director: October 2007 to April 2011)

Renovating storage space and purchasing storage furniture to rehouse collections of more than 13,000 works of art from around the world, as well as the museum's archives.

The Museum Storage Improvement Project - Phase II will make maximum use of the Museum's available onsite storage space, create room for future growth, facilitate easier access for research and viewing, and improve the care and management of the collections. It directly addresses, in response to overcrowding and the excessive handling resulting from it, over 4,000 square feet and three storage areas with high-density collections including those for small objects, works on paper, and archival and research materials. As proposed, it includes the movement, reorganization, and rehousing of over 15,000 works of art from nine curatorial collections and over 1,100 linear feet of historical records and special collections in the Archives.
