Greg Sutton (Project Director: September 2005 to August 2007)

Planning of a three-year after-school history program in which groups of youngsters from three schools explore Brooklyn history through the interpretation of a single artifact, building, or document.

Brooklyn Information & Culture Inc. (BRIC),a New York-based cultural institution dedicated to providing Brooklyn residents with access to arts and media, requests a $40,000 grant to plan Kids Race to Reveal- Brooklyn “Reality Videos” that Tell All! The project (which will be planned and implemented by BRIC’s media component BCAT along with humanities scholars, the Brooklyn Public Library, the Brooklyn Historical Society, Brooklyn Museum and local schools) will center on after-school student groups competing with each other to decode the secret of a specific object, building or document that is significant in Brooklyn’s history. This process will be videotaped and edited into three documentary videos for purpose of broad distribution.
