This NEH Fellowship program will help encourage the sustained, long-term engagement that is fundamental for meaningful research in the humanistic study of the Middle East. ACOR is making concerted efforts to broaden awareness of the NEH Fellowship program to attract more qualified and experienced applicants, with targeted outreach to research universities and four-year colleges, and relevant academic organizations, institutes, and online resources. This outreach is particularly important in light of the current regional situation, in which many scholars with research interests in neighboring destabilized or war-torn countries will be attracted to Jordan as a safe, stable alternative for conducting their research.
