Michael T. Ryan (Project Director: August 2016 to August 2022)
Valerie Paley (Project Director: August 2022 to October 2025)

10 months of stipend support (one fellowship) per year for three years and a contribution to defray costs associated with the selection of fellows.

From its establishment in 2012, the New-York Historical Society’s National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship has provided one outstanding scholar annually with a 10-month residency that allows full access to the N-YHS collections and resources. This position, anchoring a robust fellowship program, has fostered new scholarship and furthered N-YHS's role as a leading center for research and interpretation of New York and American history.
