Medici Archive Project Inc. (New York, NY 10018-0983)
Edward Leroy Goldberg (Project Director: September 2002 to October 2006)
Ippolita Morgese (Project Director: October 2006 to April 2008)

One fellowship for a length of three years.

The Medici Archive Project (MAP) is an American Research Institution working in the State Archive in Florence, Italy, and creating the first computerized access to the Archive of the Medici Grand Dukes of Tuscany (1537-1743). Part of its mission is to train emerging scholars in the values and methods of archival research. Funding is sought for two researchers, one each in two successive three-year "classes" of fellows (2004-7 and 2005-8). Each fellow will spend 20 months working in the Archive, and an additional 10 months conducting independent research on a topic chosen by the Fellow and proposed at the time of application to the Fellowship program. The 10 months of independent research time will be broken up into two five-month "semesters" over the second and third years of the Fellowship period.
