ABSTRACT: Project to tape interviews with persons who knew Charles Ives and were of importance in his personal, business or musical life. First sutdy of its kind in music, will provide spontaneous, intimate biographical material on an important American composer, and information about other composers and period of American musical history not yet fully documented. 34 interviews completed, 24 more projected. Project has attracted enthusiastic interest from musicians and historians as unique source of research information. Resulting material will be housed permanently in Ives Collection at Yale. Funds for travel expenses, supplies, salaries, transportation.
