ABSTRACT: Bibliography of Poe criticism in various languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, to be published by Univ. of Virginia Press. Part I, alphabetical listing by author or title of books, articles in English written on Poe from January 1, 1827 to Dec. 31, 1967. Part II, criticism in laguages other than English for same period. Annotations of entries composed in English and an index to be employed as aids in using bibliography. As first definitive bibliography of Poe criticism, will include some 6000 entries. Under previous NEH funding (H67-0-48) nearly all English entries from 1827-1964 compiled; 60% of all entries 1827-1960 compiled and annotated; 40% of all entries 1960-64 compiled, 25% annotated. Since then, with other support, 90% of all entries 1827-1967, 50% annotated and edited for publication. Under this grant, all entries expected to be ready for publication by 1971, indexing to be well under way for final publication in 1972.
