To prepare the papers of Charles Willson Peale and the members of his immediate family for a definitive microfilm edition. Charles Willson Peale, artist, museum keeper, naturalist, was a major figure in the cultural life of the early Republic. His papers cover the period 1765 to 1827 while those of hs sons extend beyond the Civil War.
