Planning Grant for "Black Abolitionists Editorial Project"

To edit the correspondence, speeches, essays, and editorials of a selected group of black abolitionists. William Wells Brown, Charles Remond, the Forten family and others will form the nucleus of the project. Project will provide for the first time primary source material on the role of black Americans in the anti-slavery movement.
