To support the translation, with annotation, of the medieval laws of Hungary, a country which then included Czechoslovakia, Austria, Yugoslavia, Rumania and a corner of the Soviet Union. These laws reflect the transformation of a semi-nomadic society into the royal realm of the Angevin kings.
