Project to prepare for publication a comprehensive bibliographical checklist of the published books and separate publications of a sizeable number of Southern writers from colonial times to the present. ABSTRACT: Project of the Society for the Study of Southern Literature to 1) prepare for publication a comprehensive bibliographical checklist of the published books and separate publications of a sizeable number of Southern writers from colonial times to the present and 2) revise, update and republish in the field of Southern literary history. The Society has already compiled and published A Bibliographical Guide to the Study of Southern Literature, providing checklist of existing scholarship on 200 Southern authors and 23 general topics in the field of Southern literature and has undertaken an annual checklist of new scholarship in the field, the first published in summer 1969 issue of Mississippi Quarterly. Interest in the study of Southern history and culture increasing rapidly; this complete bibliographical reference will provide indispendable aid to scholarship in the field. Funds for travel, per diem, photocopying, clerical assistance, supplies, operation expenses.
