A 22-month project to collect and analyze for publication all the paralles between the so-called "Pythian Dialogues" and related works of Plutarch and early Christian literature. A team of eight professors will execute exhaustive investigation of the literary comparative religions, philosophical and linguistic parallels between the two corpora. Will advanced the methodology of such comparative studies, thereby helping to surmount the pervailing division between the disciplines of classical and biblical scholarship. Should increase understanding of the dynamic process by which "Western humanism" emerged from the encounter and synthesis of "Greek humanisim" and early Christianity.
