To develop and systematically apply criteria by which some 150 plays of the Ywaen Dynasty can be dated relative to each other with the immediate object of showing in detail the highly innovative nature of this artform during the period (c. 1250-1350) of its active growth, and the long-range objective of facilitating critical judgement of the position of individual authors and works within this overall development.
