FAIN: RO-11311-72

Constance McLaughlin Green
Unaffiliated independent scholar

To portray 200 years of American Urban life by presenting synthesis of significant findings of recent scholarly work in fashion to interest and inform readers not specialist in field. To discuss role of "plain people" as well as urban elite in the evolution of city as major force in national life and to show extraordinary fluidity of urban society and enduring character of urban problems. Book should help dispel some widely held misconceptions about past and place present-day urban crisis in historical perspective.
