Study of Education and Political Development in Tangshan

To examine relationship between education and political development in Tangshan (China) from 1870 to present. tangshan Industrial College, 1905-50 (grantee's principal case) enables a study of growth of technical education in Tanshan under 5 different types of political control: central rule in the last years of the Empire (1905-11), regional rule by warlords (1912-27), Central rule under the Nationalist Party (1927-37; 1945-48). Japanese military rule (1937-45), and Communist rule (from 1949).
