Robert R. Palmer (Project Director: July 1973 to present)

To study the impact of the Revolution on education in France, and of education on the Revolution when used as a means to introduce or consolidate change. It will be shown how the modern French system arose partly in reaction to negative aspects of the Revolution and partly in realization of ideas of the Revolution and the later Old Regime.
